A Gothic Salon with Noveltease Theatre
Whether sinister poetry or spine-chilling prose, we have been telling ghost stories for as long as humans have gathered round a fire in the dark of night. During that ungenial summer in 1816, one of history’s great bad boys turned this haunting pastime into a challenge, a contest between himself and his friends.
“We will each write a ghost story.” Declared Lord Byron to the gathered company of Percy and Mary Shelley, Claire Clairmont, and John Polidori. A contest that conceived one of the great novels of sci-fiction and horror.
Join Noveltease Theatre’s Sailor St. Claire, Onyx Asili, and Fosse Jack for an evening of ghost stories. Bring your favorite to read to those gathered round our salon, pen your own if the spirits so move you, and discuss why such grim tales of horror, and suspense hold such an important place in the human psyche.
Who knows, maybe the next great work of gothic literature will be conceived right here at BurlyCon.
Noveltease Theatre is Seattle’s premiere literary burlesque theatre company.
